We Believe Protecting Nature Starts By Protecting The People Who Defend Her

This is climate action through rights, not offsets or technocratic fixes. Protecting Indigenous rights and territories is one of the most effective and underfunded climate solutions available today. Advancing the Rights of Nature helps strengthen this approach by providing additional tools to protect ecosystems at their source.

Our Mision

We are a non-profit organization working with Indigenous communities environmental and frontline defenders to protect their territories and ecosystems, while advancing legal and advocacy strategies that recognize the rights of nature and challenge extractive systems. By supporting those who defend nature and strengthening community-led, regenerative ways of living, we address the root causes of ecological destruction and advance rights-based climate solutions that respect the interconnected rights of people and Nature and keep power in community hands.

How We Do It

By partnering with Indigenous Peoples and local communities to protect ecosystems, uphold their rights, and co-design alternatives to extractive development that respect the rights of Nature in practice. We do this through advocacy, campaigning, legal strategies, capacity building and community-led projects that hat benefit both people and the planet.

«WE RECOGNIZE THAT ECOSYSTEMS ARE NOT MERELY RESOURCES TO BE MANAGED BUT LIVING ENTITIES WHOSE PROTECTION IS INSEPARABLE FROM THE RIGHTS AND SOVEREIGNITY OF THE PEOPLES WHO STEWARD THEM»

Help Protect What Protects Us

Indigenous territorial protection is one of the most effective climate mitigation and adaptation strategies globally and one of the most underfunded. We envision a world where peoples and Nature´s rights are safeguarded, respected and central to climate solutions
